The ConVal schools will be closed on Monday, March 16 through Friday, May 1, as a means of mitigating the possible spread of the Covid-19 virus. The School Board held an emergency meeting on Friday evening and unanimously approved the Superintendent's recommendation to close the schools. The Superintendent may extend the period of closing if necessary. No students or staff have confirmed cases of the virus, though two persons have been screened, tested, and are "persons under investigation." The Superintendent presented several reasons to take this action including a concern for students, staff, and parents who have suppressed immune systems as well as a substantial number who are considered to be in high-risk groups. Staff members have been preparing for a shift to "remote"/"distance" learning for students K-12; online teaching and learning will begin on Wednesday, March 18. Information will be provided to parents to help them support their children in the online learning environment.
