Trustees

Mission Statement

The Library Trustees are the governing body of the library and serve as a vital link between the community and the Library. The Board of Trustees for the George Holmes Bixby Memorial Library is composed of five members elected by the public, plus up to three appointed alternates. The Trustees are responsible for:

  • Preparing and administering the annual Library budget, ensuring adequate funds are allotted by the town to provide services to meet the community's needs.
  • Developing and implementing policies necessary for Library operation.
  • Hiring and supervising a qualified Library Director to administer day-to-day Library operations.
  • Oversee all Library trust funds, according to a formal investment policy that conforms to state standards.

Above all, the Trustees act as advocates, working to ensure the Town of Francestown has a Library that meets the needs of residents of all ages.

From N.H. State RSA 202-A:6:

"The library trustees shall have the entire custody and management of the public library and of all the property of the town relating thereto, including appropriations held pursuant to RSA 202-A:11, III, but excepting trust funds held by the town."
