Wednesday, January 19, 2022

Members Present:  Chairman Jamie A Pike, Bill McAuley, Elly Miles, Kevin Pobst, Gerri Bernstein, Charlie and Sarah Pyle, Priscilla Martin, Bev Abbott, Marsha Dixon and Jan Hicks.

Chairman Pike called the meeting to order at 4:05pm.

Jamie stated that 38 plates have been sold for $760 to date.

A brick fundraiser was discussed.  New Boston is currently doing one for their gazebo roof and having good success.  Their bricks start at $100.  It was discussed to possibly have a tiered level starting at $50.

Ornaments for sale were discussed.  Pewter and glass are options.  Elly showed an example from Hancock Glass.  The glass ornaments cost $3.85 each with a 100pc minimum and $75 for the die.  They typically retail for $7.50 - $10 each.  They can come in amber green and blue and made with recycled glass.  The committee chose to move forward with the glass ornaments.  Elly will find out what the minimum re-order is and the turn around time.

The committee discussed dinner plans.  Kevin reported the school will loan 20*20 tents at no cost for June 25th.  The estimate for dinner is 300 attendees and tickets will be $5 for 12+..  The tents will be used regardless of weather.  Elly reported that Green Heron will play from 4:30 to 6:30pm.

Bev discussed the plans for the dinner from 5:00pm to 7pm.  Betsy H and Karen StC will help with a ham and bean supper.  Sides will include rolls, mac & cheese, potato salad, garden salad and fruit pies.  Tickets should go on sale April 1st to aide in getting a better count.

Save the date mailer to go out in March.

Bill discussed the use of the vis-à-vis in the parade.  He reviewed the history of the carriage, the damage it suffered and its restoration.  There are only 3 left in the country and is virtually irreplaceable.  For many reasons, the carriage is not suitable for road travel.  Bill will research what carriages are available from Silver Ranch.

Bev reviewed plans for the opening ceremony and parade.  The New Boston canon artillery is meeting in March to make sure there are 4 people available for June 25th.  Scott Carbee is organizing the veterans for the military march.  The opening ceremony will be from 2pm to 3pm.  A Town crier will announce the arrival of Governor Wentworth from 1pm to 2pm.

Updates were also given on the Scavenger Hunt by Priscilla, the 60’s Invasion band from Sarah and a potential tap truck by Gerri.

The meeting was adjourned at 5:35.  The next meeting date is TBD but will be about the overall budget for the events.
